Chapter 1 ~ Love is patient (unremarkable)

Saturday, November 8, 2008 ~
Not much was said between us: over the phone, in text, at the concert, in the parking lot, over Wendy's with the girls. The thrust for the day was patience. Let every word be seasoned with salt. I thought a million thoughts about him, watching him work. He told me, "go easy on the ketchup, the girls like sweet n' sour."
The day passed and I wondered when I would go home... read day one over again... read day two... "I'll give it 40 days" I told my therapist. I committed to reading and acting on The Love Dare.

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things, Loves never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:7-8

The Love Dare Day 1: Love Is Patient

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2
The first part of this dare is fairly simple.
Although love is communicated in a number
of ways, our words often reflect the condition
of our heart. For the next day, resolve to
demonstrate patience and to say nothing
negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation
arises, choose not to say anything. It’s better
to hold your tongue than to say something
you’ll regret.
____ Check here when you’ve completed today’s dare.

Did anything happen today to cause anger toward your mate?
Were you tempted to think disapproving thoughts and to let them come out in words?
Was your spouse surprised by the things you didn’t say?
Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. (James 1:19)
