Chapter 12 ~ Love lets the other win

Willingness
Today’s Dare:

Demonstrate love by willingly choosing to give in to an area of disagreement between you and your spouse. Tell him you are putting his preference first.

The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to
yield. –James 3:17

There is a strain of compromise in this attitude that results in death of self then ultimately to resurrection life. The only way to give in is to give in completely, laying your pride down, setting aside your pigheaded stubbornness. I prefer to you my love—this is the act of selfless love. To be willing is to have the attitude and spirit of cooperation that permeates our thoughts and our conversations.

What issue did you choose? What did giving in cost you? How will this help you in the future?

He prefers divorce, I do not.
I am willing to give him a divorce if that is what he wants. I yield to his desires.
This cost me my marriage. I let go—I give in.
This will pave the way for a continuous act of obedience to the Father—for the sake of everything I am and have—it is all Yours, Father.

Thank you, Lord, for my husband, for my son and daughters. We are blessed.

This was a difficult step to take, rather over the top. Am I digging my own grave? It does not matter, I would be sinning if I did not give in to my husband’s request.
